The Sakal Balmitra drawing competition, an annual event popular among students, will be organised on December 18.

The event, which offers a large canvass for the young minds to express their feelings, is sponsored by Hindustan Unilever Ltd's Pears soap.

The event is conducted with an objective to improve the imagination of the children and their drawing skills.

This is the 27th edition of this unique event. There is no entry fee for the schools or students for participating in the competition.

Children studying from Class I to Class X are eligible to participate in the contest.

The contest will be conducted in four categories. The Group A will consist of Class I and Class II students. The Group B will have third and fourth standards students, while, Group C will be of students studying from the fifth to the seventh standards and Group D will be of students studying from the eighth to the 10th standard.

The competition for Groups A and B students will be held from 9 am to 10 am and for Groups C and D it will be held from 11 am to 12.30 pm.

Besides students in general categories, physically challenged, speech impaired and mentally challenged students can also participate in the drawing competition.

'Sakal' will supply free of cost the papers for drawing. However, the contestant students will have to bring along with them the painting materials.

The details of the venues for the drawing competition and other relevant information will be announced later.

The contestant students should enroll themselves for the contest by registering their names in their respective schools.

The result of the competition will be announced from January 20 to 30, 2012. The prize distribution ceremony for the Pune divisional and state-level winner contestants and the exhibition of prize winning entries will be held in Pune.

The list of the students interested in participating in the competition should be sent through their schools to Sakal Papers Pvt Ltd., 595 Budhwar Peth, Pune 411 002.

The contest will be conducted in four categories - Group A (Class I and Class II students), Group B (Class III and Class IV students), Group C (Class V to Class VII students) and Group D (Class VIII and Class X students).
